About Terry

Terence Hanley, elected to the Town Commission in November 2003 and confirmed in every election since has served as Chairman of the Board, the¬†unofficial “Mayor” of the Town. Having liaison responsibilities with County and State officials, in addition to those with the Town’s departments of Administration, Finance, and Public Works he knows how to get things done. His community involvement includes membership on the Board of the Rockfield Foundation, the Harford County Public Library Foundation (on which he has served as Vice President), Harford County Historical Society, Eden Mill Nature Center Foundation, and the Bel Air Elementary School PTA. On a regional level, Terry serves as the President of the Cecil-Harford Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League. His commitment and dedication have been recognized by his nomination as Rawlings Fellow for the State of Maryland, joining a select group of public leaders from across the State.As a former member of the Bel Air Economic and Community Development Commission, he is committed to encouraging business and commercial viability. Terry and his wife Debra own an historically designated home on East Broadway; they are committed to preserving the charm and tradition of the Town’s residential neighborhoods. He was a member of the first graduating class of C. Milton Wright High School and his three children attend Harford County Public Schools.Terry is aware of the importance of balancing societal needs with fiscal responsibility. Terry is excited about Low Taxes, Streamlined Government, and Transparent Leadership.
